Funerals, weddings and
baby naming ceremonies

"Life is what you celebrate. All of it. Even its end" - Chocolat by Joanne Harris

Telling the detailed and intricate story of a person’s life is central to what I do. A person’s life should not be defined by their death. We are all individuals and your loved ones’s funeral should fully reflect who they were.

I take a family-led approach, which means including only what you want to include. This can range from fully secular (non-religious) to incorporating prayers and hymns. You can personalise the ceremony with poems, stories and music and enable you to truly celebrate your loved one.

When I’m telling the story of your loved one’s life it can be as traditional or creative as you like. Personal tributes are welcome, and I can read them on your behalf if you prefer. I want to make this journey as easy as possible for you as we celebrate your loved one’s life.

When we discuss the service, I can meet you face to face, over the phone, email, or video call. Any method that's best for you. When I come to see you, I have no time constraints. We will be spending as long as you like talking through memories, stories and how you want the service structured to making sure it is perfect.

The day itself can feel like a blur of emotions and it may feel that you’ve not been able to take everything on board. You will be presented with a printed and bound copy of the service to keep, as well as a digital PDF version. This means you can take a moment to yourself and read through the ceremony in your own time, when you feel ready.

I can also create a funeral services for individuals who wish to make their own arrangements prior to their passing. This enables you to have complete control over what is included in the service, as well as taking some of the pressure off of your loved ones.

You can contact me directly or request me through your funeral director.

Love is...

Love is a connection between two people that is deeper and more meaningful than any other relationship. Love is also everything that you make it to be and the most important part of any marriage are the two people who are joining heart and hand.

But most importantly, love is love. I welcome everyone and I want to help you show the world your love for each other.

I’m here to help you celebrate your special day with a special and intimate ceremony that has been tailored to you.

I want to help you make your day just right but I also know it has to reflect who you are; so whether it’s simply traditional or simply wacky, I can help you achieve your perfect celebration.

I look forward to working with you on your special day.

Welcoming a new addition to your family

Naming your child is an important moment. Whether you’re looking for an alternative to a religious christening ceremony or you want to create a ceremony that simply celebrates a new addition to the family, I will help you create something to introduce them to the world.

The ceremony can include promises you wish to make to your child and any “Fairy God-Parents”, “Guide Parents”, or even “Odd Parents”. We can include any special people in your lives to help support you and guide your little ones as they grow up.

We can craft unique promises to your child and to you, or pass a crystal around for guest to infuse with love. You can also ask friends and family for their input into the ceremony and if they want to speak.

A copy of your ceremony will be gifted to you and your child so that you can look back on their special day together.

I wanted to send a huge thank you for all your advice and support in facilitating mum‘s funeral service. D and I enjoyed the time you spent chatting with us, during which we raised many a smile thinking of Mum, and it eased a difficult time for us. S. P.
M and I were very impressed by the way you put together such a jumble of words and expressions about our thoughts, hopes and memories of my little girl and came out with a fantastic celebration statement from the heart. The K-B family

Hi, my name is Verity and since 2015 I have been delivering meaningful, tailored services in the form of funerals, weddings and naming ceremonies. Personalised celebrations are at the heart of what I do. We are all individuals and those important events in our lives reflect all we hold dear.

I want to work closely with you to create something that has been customised to your needs. It can be as traditional or creative and quirky as you want, and you will always get the final say in the content.

I work in Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Emsworth, Hayling Island and Southampton. I also cover the wider south Hampshire and West Sussex areas. Though if you live further afield, I am always happy to travel.

You may find it easiest to chat to me face to face, but we can also get to know one another through video calls, phone calls, or email.

Please feel free to get in contact if you have any questions at all. I look forward to working with you.
